A few words of wisdom for HIMRers on a cold and gusty Winter morning.
When wealth comes too easily or too quickly, it has a built-in self-destruct mechanism. At best, the new wealth simply vanishes as quickly as it came. At worst, it blows up, leaving deep and ever lasting scars.
The opposite happens when we are forced to face up to the challenges of adversity and hard times. Because we were driven to develop the tools and the skills to overcome the hard times, we truly earn the wealth and prosperity that then ensues. With earned wealth the good times become more real and much more self-sustaining, and they do not self-destruct. Thus, we are more likely to consider others and to appreciate where we are now, and where we came from.
