Newly Released Games Add to Digital Branding and Reach for Established Comic Book Properties
SAN CLEMENTE, CA / January 24, 2014 / ACCESSWIRE / Monster Arts (OTCQB: APPZ), a leading app technology innovator and mobile game developer, announces today the release of two more mobile games for digital entertainment company WOWIO, Inc. The two newest games are launched in accordance with an agreed upon development arrangement between Monster Arts and WOWIO formed in June of 2012. Monster Arts has based the development of the new games on two existing Spacedog Entertainment Comic Book titles Helen Killer and Death to Dillinger, building new mobile game brands around each of the Comic Book’s themes and characters.
WOWIO, a company that specializes in creation and monetization of media content developed from books and original published material, was first to release Spacedog Entertainment titles Death Comes to Dillinger and Helen Killer as digital comics in 2011, and has now expanded the brand to casual mobile games. The Spacedog library is comprised of titles including comic and graphic novel properties, film and television concepts and lifestyle-focused content. The comics span a number of audience-friendly genres, including horror, fantasy action-adventure, supernatural, Western, steampunk and sci-fi. A number of Spacedog titles have been in development with WOWIO’s strong strategic partners in the entertainment industry, such as Universal Music Licensing Group, Fox Television Studios, and Lionsgate.
“With the help of Monster Arts, we are essentially creating new and exciting entertainment material from our Spacedog library, expanding the theme and revenue potential of existing Comic titles to yet another digital property, this time in the form of casual mobile games,” commented Brian Altounian, CEO and President of WOWIO. “We are excited to expand this concept of game development beyond our comic titles, and on to other properties, expanding our offerings to customers through our growing distribution platform.”
As more brick and mortar stores are fighting for a fraction of the retail book business, the publishing industry is changing dramatically. With change comes opportunity in creating new business models that can package content in new ways. Monster Arts ability to develop theme based casual games is helping WOWIO to not only re-imagine, but redefine the lifespan of digital assets and properties as we know it.
