I hear you on that. But I think both concerns are kind of one and the same. There is an online database that can be used to check if a patient is or isn't legally allowed to buy, but you can't really build a website with a mechanism that is dependant on an outside source like that, especially if you don't have a more solid database to go off of. IMO, and again, this is mere guessing, but they would PROBABLY need to get the State of CA to allow them access to a hard database so that, as you said, cross checking the data set is automatic as opposed to manual. Otherwise, the website is going to just turn into a headache, which would then require the company to hire people specifically to manage that portion of the website. I'm all about creating jobs, but if there's a way to save the salary money on positions like that in favor of a more automated system, it's a win every day of the week.
You could be correct about the emails seeming to indicate 'regulatory' issues, but that's nothing new. Among those we already know the payment issue is key focus on the website. Those collectives, like Goddess Delivers function as non-profits off of 'donations.' Of course, we all know they probably operate at a profit and that 'donations' and 'payment solution' are essentially the same thing for those, but when you're playing with shareholder money, probably you don't want to go down that particular route.
