Foresure this is a prelude to H265 and VP9, Everyone at this point that utilizes the old Codec H.264 and VP8 have already upgraded to the newer Codec's. Now the newer companys would not even concider purchasing hardware from their OEM's with any Codec less than H.265 or VP9 at this stage in the game. They could add support for H.264 or even VP8 but at what cost and would it be benificial to support the older Codecs. All smartphones, Laptops, and SmartTV's will support the newer Codec H.265 and Googles VP9. However even older PC's and Laptops will support the newer Codec due to the updated browsers that are now being upgraded and or purchased.
