Now, I actually believe NanoTech could surpass Netflix. That's very bold to say, however, Netflix is leaving the door wide open for someone to come in and capitalize on their lack of progress and mistakes.
Netflix became popular because they mailed DVD's. As technology and apps became the norm, Netflix converted as much content as they could and made about half of their content streamable. Netflix was daring in the beginning, they included streamable content that got them in trouble . I remember when the GodFather was streamable, now, not so much. Licensing issues. They started to stream movies they didn't have the rights to. Dexter was streamable for Season 1 & Season 2, then that was pulled. It was only until many seasons later did Dexter make it's way back to Netflix and not all seasons, just 1-4 for right now.
These are licensing issues. If Netflix introduced a pay feature as an option to deal with certain titles, I believe they would open their possibilities. NanoTech has already thought ahead.
And by the way, I am a Netflix subscriber and have been for over 6 years.
Iv'e been watching this very closely. Netflix has streaming issues once in a while, no big deal. They're usually up 95% of the time which works out for me. But they aren't perfect.
Most recently, this caught my eye.

Content doesn't disappear unless you have problems licensing that content. I believe NanoTech is learning from the mistakes of Netflix. NanoTech is also looking for ways to build relationships with studios and I don't think Netflix has that capability. 4K Studios is a huge game changer along with how to approach licensing. THAT is what separates the two.
Actually, Netflix would be wise to buy out NanoTech and that would solve many of Netflix's problems. BUT, NanoTech has mentioned several times that they are not looking to get bought out.
This will all get very interesting very fast.
