Uhm they became wealthy long before entering politics. And when you put money away it grows....
The majority of Congress is wealthy, but not INSANELY wealthy like the corporations and moguls like the Koch Bros who descend hundreds of lobbyists to influence political decision making....and the right wing caters to big business FAR MORE than the left does. The left has always backed science, green tech, education and r and d and infrastructure spending, while the right and dirty energy has launched a smear campaign against climate change identical to that of smoking cigarettes a few decades back....simply blame government and get even more millions in tax cuts they dont need with already record low taxes. But lets give the Pentagon Literally more moey than they say they need while slashing jobs and benefits across the board...paranoid much? We already spend more than everyone put together on defense....such inconsistencues in conservative ideology.
