MADRID (MarketWatch) — Bitcoin slid to a low of $690 early Monday before swinging back to above the $900 level. The virtual currency fell 24% on Friday to under $900 on a report that the Chinese Internet company Baidu (NASDAQ:BIDU) won’t accept bitcoin payments. Also last week, the People’s Bank of China barred the country’s financial institutions from offering services linked to the virtual currency.
