HUGE Coal has been the world’s fastest-growing fuel for the past decade. Longer term, the International Energy Agency (IEA) projects that global coal use will rise 65 percent by 2035 under its current policies scenario. This energy growth from coal would be 30 percent greater than the global increase in gas consumption and more than double the growth in oil. In fact, coal’s growth alone by 2035 represents more than twice the current global use of nuclear, hydro and other renewables combined.
