... Wind Chill Advisory in effect from midnight tonight to noon
CST Saturday...
The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Wind
Chill Advisory... which is in effect from midnight tonight to noon
CST Saturday.
* Impacts: hypothermia possible if precautions are not taken. Wear
warm clothes... including a hat and gloves.
* Wind chill values: wind chill readings will drop into the 0 to
10 degrees below zero range.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
... Hazardous travel conditions this morning...
Hazardous icy conditions continue across west central Texas. Law
enforcement officials previously reported numerous ice-related
vehicle accidents. We do not recommend travel this morning.
However... if you must travel... watch for icy spots... especially on
overpasses and bridges.

... Hazardous travel conditions expected tonight...
Wintry precipitation ended earlier today across west central
Texas. However... icy conditions continue across the region. The
ice that did melt earlier today has quickly refrozen this
evening... resulting in hazardous travel conditions areawide. Local
dispatch units are reporting numerous vehicle accidents which may
result in some Road closures. Travel is not recommended tonight.
Very cold temperatures tonight will combine with north winds
around 10 mph to produce very cold wind chill readings. Wind
chills along and north of Interstate 20 are expected to fall below
zero degrees overnight with single digits values expected across
the remainder of the area.

The high temperature today at the Abilene Regional Airport was 25
degrees. This breaks the previous record of 27 degrees... which was
set on this date in 1972.
The high temperature today at Mathis Field in San Angelo was 31
degrees. This breaks the previous record of 34 degrees... which was
set on this date in 1972.
