Sahara Planning An IPTV Venture? Why?
Just when you thought IPTV was dead, here’s a doozie: Indiantelevision.com reports that Sahara India is planning to roll
out IPTV services. The report is remarkably short on details, and frankly, we find it hard to believe that anybody would
even consider launching IPTV services in India. Maybe this expression of interest is on the basis of a recent TRAI
recommendation for allowing 100% FDI In DTH, HITS, IPTV, Mobile TV, Cable Networks, which, incidentally, is yet to be
accepted by the government.

Bosnian operator m:tel has announced that, as of 2014, it will provide its users with a completely new, state-of-the-art IPTV platform, which will allow them to watch TV on all devices, anywhere and in the HD format. In addition to availability, the new platform will also provide the experience of web and mobile TV services that are widely available in the world. Technology from Motorola has been selected, mainly because it has the best balance between price and quality and top-notch flexibility, as the open system allows the use of elements and systems from other manufacturers, as well as free programming.

Despite all the disappointments, there is reason to believe that the fortunes of TV everywhere services could be changing, the firm said.
