LUXURY ATHLETIC CLUB ADOPTS NEW NAME

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 5, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Just in time for New Year's, Western Athletic Clubs has made a new resolution. Effective immediately, the operator of private luxury athletic clubs and sports resorts in California will now be known as The Bay Club Company. In keeping with the aim of helping members reach their own transformative goals, current management will continue to run the clubs with their trademark hospitality, culture and operating values. Said President and Chief Executive Officer Matthew Stevens, "The Bay Club has been an iconic brand in San Francisco for decades. We are proud to extend this name to our company to pay homage to the distinctive brand The Bay Club name represents."

Eight of the Company's sports resort campuses and clubs already bear the Bay Club name, including Bay Club Marin, Bay Club Ross Valley, Bay Club San Francisco, Bay Club Santa Clara, Bay Club SF Financial District, Bay Club SF Tennis, Bay Club Silicon Valley, and Bay Club at the Gateway. To reflect the update, the Company's three all-inclusive sports resort destinations will change their names as follows:
•    Courtside, A Pacific Sports Resort will now be Bay Club Courtside
•    Pacific Sports Resort Redwood Shores will now be Bay Club Redwood Shores
•    Pacific Sports Resort San Diego will now be Bay Club Carmel Valley
The Bay Club Company has revolutionized the idea of the staid country club by offering guests a wealth of experiences to celebrate a healthy and vibrant lifestyle. It has transformed "formal country clubs" into contemporary lifestyle destinations for families and individuals with less time, more demands, and a desire for health, wellness, recreation, and business productivity—all in one place. Together, The Bay Club Company's 11 locations have a combined offering of 750,000 square feet of indoor space, 92 tennis courts, 20 indoor/outdoor pools and 6 resort-like spas.

Health and wellness amenities include fitness facilities in luxury settings, top-ranked personal training instruction, group exercise classes, market leading yoga, Pilates studios, nutrition counseling, and more.

Sports and family recreation includes multiple USTA "Facility of the Year" winners, squash programs, adult swim leagues, family-friendly water parks, children's tennis and swim lessons, and summer camps.

Meeting and social networking facilities include business centers with "touchdown rooms," connectivity stations, business club partnerships, member lounges, active lobbies, and in-club Starbucks locations.

Finally, "staycation" resort offerings range from an exclusive network of expansive facilities, dining areas, and child care to full-service resort-like spas, numerous luxury amenities, and stylish, comfortable gathering/social areas.
