A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from noon today to noon CST Friday.
- Impacts: with ground temperatures falling to well below freezing, ice will develop easily on area roadways. Dangerous driving conditions due to icy roads are likely. Ice accumulations on trees and power lines may cause damage. Perhaps resulting in power outages as well.
- Timing: Freezing rain and sleet will develop by Thursday afternoon along and north of Interstate 20, and may start this morning across Haskell and Throckmorton counties. A more significant precipitation event, mainly Freezing rain and sleet, is likely tonight and Friday morning.
- Accumulations: A mixture of freezing rain and sleet will result in ice accumulations of one quarter to one half inch. If the precipitation falls mainly as sleet, accumulations will be higher.
- Dangerous wind chill readings will also be possible, dropping to near zero by Friday morning.
