Future Valmet to supply a tissue production line for Tezol Tutun Kagit in Turkey

HELSINKI, Finland, Dec. 5, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Metso's Pulp, Paper and Power business, the future Valmet, will supply a complete tissue production line to Tezol Tütün Kagit in Turkey. The new tissue machine will be installed at the company's new mill site in the city of Mersin. The start-up of the machine is scheduled for 2015.

"The new tissue line will fulfill Tezol's ambition to produce environmentally friendly products of highest quality in a cost-efficient way," says Ersin Tezol, CEO of Tezol Tütün ve Kagit San ve Tic A.S

"The Advantage DCT tissue making concept enables the production of most types of conventional tissue products with the highest quality in a cost-effective way. We are very delighted that Tezol trusted us as the supplier of their new tissue making line, and are looking forward to a long-term partnership which will be of benefit for both companies," says Björn Magnus, Sales Manager, Paper business line, future Valmet.

The order is included in Metso's Pulp, Paper and Power segment's third quarter 2013 orders received. The value of the order will not be disclosed.

Technical information

The delivery will comprise a complete high-speed tissue production line featuring an Advantage DCT 100+ tissue machine equipped with an OptiFlo headbox, a cast iron Yankee cylinder, an Advantage ViscoNip press and an Advantage AirCap Yankee hood.  The delivery will also include part of the stock preparation equipment.

The new line will have a width of 2.85 m and will increase the company's existing production for the Turkish market by another 30,000 tonnes per year of bathroom tissue, towel grades and diaper tissue. The raw material for the new production line will be virgin fiber and recycled fiber.

The family owned company Tezol Tütün, established in 1932, entered the tissue market in 2000. Over the past nine years the company has invested in a tissue machine in Torbali, 2004, a deinking line, 2007, and a second tissue mill, 2009. The company is a major manufacturer in the Turkish tissue market, supplying towel, napkin and toilet paper products under the brands Softy, Mare and Ecco as well as private label products. It also exports recycled tissue and finished products to Europe, the Middle East, Russia and Central America. Tezol Tütün has 400 employees.
