Patent Properties Recognizes Additions to its Boar

Patent Properties, Inc. (OTC BBPRO), an intellectual property company that develops and commercializes its unique portfolio of assets and is creating a disruptive licensing solution for the mass market of patent owners and users, today recognized the addition of four new directors to its Board of Directors. Sharon Barner, Robert Kelly, Nathaniel J. Lipman and Harvey W. Schiller, Ph.D. join Jay Walker, Executive Chairman of the Board and Jonathan Ellenthal, Vice Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, as directors.

Sharon Barner, Director, is a former Deputy Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office and also served as Deputy Undersecretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property. She is currently Vice President, General Counsel, of Cummins Inc (NYSE: CMI). Prior to her career in government she was an attorney and partner with the international law firm of Foley & Lardner LLP where, among other positions, she chaired the Intellectual Property Department and the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group. Among other accolades, Ms. Barner has been named as one of “The 50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America” by The National Law Journal and was also named to the list of the top 50 women “Super Lawyers” in Illinois by Law & Politics Media, Inc. for intellectual property litigation work.
Robert Kelly, Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee, has served as Chief Financial Officer of SolarCity Corporation (NASDAQ: SCTY), a solar company, since October 2011. Prior to joining SolarCity, he served as CFO of Calera Corporation, a clean technology company. Previously, Mr. Kelly was CFO and executive vice president of independent power producer Calpine Corporation (NYSE: CPN), and before that president of Calpine Finance Company. Mr. Kelly also served as the marketing manager of Westinghouse Credit Corporation, as vice president of Lloyds Bank PLC, and held various positions with The Bank of Nova Scotia.
Nathaniel J. Lipman, Director, currently serves as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Affinion Group, Inc. In addition, he serves on the board of Reader’s Digest Association Inc. and Novitex, Inc. He also served on the Board of Directors of EVERTEC, Inc. until its IPO in April 2013. Mr. Lipman has held the role of CEO at several companies including Affinion, Trilegiant and Cendant Marketing Group. Previously, he was Senior Executive Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategic Planning for Planet Hollywood International. Prior to his tenure at Planet Hollywood, Mr. Lipman was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of House of Blues Entertainment, Inc., Senior Corporate Counsel at The Walt Disney Company and a corporate associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom, LLP.
Harvey W. Schiller, Ph.D., Director, was the Chairman and CEO of GlobalOptions Group from June 2005 to September 2013. He also serves as the Vice Chairman and President of the Sports, Media and Entertainment Practice of Diversified Search. Prior to joining GlobalOptions, Dr. Schiller served as Chairman of Assante U.S., a provider of financial and life management products and services. Before Assante, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of YankeeNets from 1999 to 2002. His previous experience includes President of Turner Sports, Inc., Executive Director and Secretary General of the United States Olympic Committee and Commissioner of the Southeastern Conference. Prior to joining the United States Olympic Committee, Dr. Schiller served for more than 25 years in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Brigadier General. Dr. Schiller currently serves on the boards of Mesa Airlines, Iverson Genetics and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and is a former advisory partner of Millennium Technology Value Partners, L.P.
