MADRID (MarketWatch) — More than 131 million Americans are expected to shop online on Cyber Monday, according to the National Retail Federation. The survey, conducted over the weekend by Prosper Insights & Analytics, this year’s number is slightly ahead of the 129 million who shopped last year. Some 24.8 million said they will use their mobile devices, a 22% gain on last year, and dramatically up from 3.7 million in 2009, the NRF said in a report out Sunday. Nearly 44% of all shoppers will try to catch deals first thing on Monday, while others will shop over lunch, 19.3% and more in the early afternoon, 33%. Results from the NRF’s Thanksgiving weekend survey found that 42.1% of holiday shoppers did their buying online. Among the deals offered so far on Monday, Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) was offering $50 off the Kindle Fire HDX, marked down to $179 from $229.
