It has oil and natural gas reserves located primarily in Wichita, Wilbarger and Starr Counties, Texas, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, and in several parishes in Louisiana. The company's core resource plays include the Bakken/Three Forks Formations in North Dakota and Montana; Woodbine/Eagle Ford Formations in Leon, Madison, Grimes, Brazos, and Polk Counties, Texas; and Utica/Point Pleasant Formations in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Halcón Resources was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Houston, TX.
