If the information is considered company confident

If the information cannot be released due to federal regulations, we cannot release it.
If the information contains legally binding instructions (non-disclosure agreements), we cannot release it.
If the information is considered a direct "buy this stock," we cannot release it.
If the information could be used for insider trading, we cannot release it.
All investor relations departments are considered under the same guidelines. We get information from multiple sources, superiors, field operations, etc. and collectively that information is released. We generally do not report things unless we have multiple confirmations of the events as they are stated.
Because we know that you're probably going to say "well anyone can claim its company confidential." Sure, but you also can't call Apple and get an exact release date for the next iPhone. You also can't call Shell and ask what "top-secret R&D project" they're working on and expect an answer. The same goes for us, you can't call us and ask for information on "the X factor" and expect an answer because that could be considered insider trading.
Our IR department prepares documents and statements regarding potential company projects/operations daily, but those projects may fall flat and as such as can't release them.
Other than that, all other information is fair game as it is considered "public information" and can be requested at anytime or announced at anytime. So far, we've updated every shareholder on exact statuses of operations -- unfortunately, most people refuse to believe us due to either people claiming contradictory or misguided information. Understandably, the Company has to make up credibility, but we've given information that is accurate to date.
As we stated, the TED 3.5mm project is underway, but drilling operations on the N. Louisiana project just haven't hit the milestone for drilling to begin. Again, we're just the drilling contractors on the project and we're not handling the full operational logistics on the project. So the most we can really report on is, "Hey! Drilling has begun." We are not privy to private company operations or timelines and we can't report much on it because of an NDA on the agreement.
