"iEquity Cancer Foundation Launch Event in Malibu [November 16, 2013]
I would like to thank everyone who came to the iEquity Cancer Foundation Launch event recently at the Creative Visions Foundation headquarters in Malibu on Saturday. Several hundred people attended the event, which benefited the Dharma Care and Hospice Program, and several other progressive organizations in the forefront of healthcare science.
I would especially like to thank the Creative Visions Foundation, which made the premises available for our event. Also, the various doctors and other healthcare professionals in attendance, as well as everyone who came out to learn about and support what we do. I presented a summary of the current state of the science of treating cancer with cannabis-based medicine and Mary Ann described the Dharma Care and Hospice Program.
We filmed all the presentations, and they will soon be posted either here or on one of the websites. I would like to again thank everyone who helped iEquity produce this event and, more than anything, thank iEquity and SK3 for all the help they have given to both the Dharma Care and Hospice Program, and the resources they have provided to Berkeley Bio which has enabled us to create our new line of non-psychoactive cannabis-based nutraceuticals.
With the formation of the iEquity Cancer Foundation, the Dharma Care and Hospice Program will now be able to expand its mission. Self-funded until this time, the stated mission over the last five years (through the non-profits Dharma Patients Cooperative, Inc. and the Dharma Care and Hospice Program, LLC) has been to provide free cannabis medicine to qualified Californians who are in hospice, battling cancer, or are hospitalized for a terminal illness, and cannot afford the medicine recommended by the doctor. While every patient who has applied to the program has been provided with care and medicine (since the first incarnation of Dharma as a San Francisco dispensary in 1996), we will now be able to make the existence of the program known to more and more people.
Referring a patient to the program is easy to do. Put the patient in touch with Mary Ann – which you can do through the message feature here on facebook – and she will handle everything necessary to legally begin treatment as soon as possible. She is quite experienced in connecting the patient with the proper doctors, handling the legal necessities, seeing treatment begin as soon as it possibly can, and making a understandably fearful patient as comfortable as possible. There has never been – and there never will be – a charge for the medicine or any part of the service.
I also wish to thank two investors who communicate on the investorshangout.com message board. Each of these gentlemen has put the Care and Hospice Program in touch with a child who is battling severe cancer and, after quickly clearing all the legal requirements, treatment is about to begin.
It seems that childhood cancers are especially good candidates for cannabis-based treatment. A substantial amount of anecdotal evidence of “miracle” cures is appearing on the internet, and my personal take is that an otherwise-healthy child with cancer has all of the vigor and lifeforce of youth going for him or her, and attacking the tumor with a non-toxic drug such as cannabis keeps the body’s own disease fighting mechanisms intact, helping greatly to cure the disease and reinstate the good health of youth.
In conclusion, my thanks to everyone who helped to produce and sponsor the event. The food and music were superb, the Malibu Oceanside location fantastic, and the overall feelings were of hope and curing through new progressive approaches to healing and medicine.
Dave
P.S. Lots of photos and videos of the presentations coming soon."
