NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — U.S. stocks closed mostly lower on Monday after dropping to session lows on bearish comments from well-known investor Carl Icahn. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIJIA) scored a record closing high, rising 14.32 points, or 0.1%, to end at 15,796.02. But the blue-chip index couldn’t finish above 16,000 after spending much of the day above that milestone level. The S&P 500 (SNC:SPX) fell 6.65 points, or 0.4%, to close at 1,791.53 after trading above 1,800 for the first time ever. The Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQ:COMP) shed 36.90 points, or 0.9%, to finish at 3,949.07.
