OCTX Manning Project Moving Forward To Production
Post# of 94145
Ernest C. Schlotter, a senior analyst with Zurich, Switzerland-based SISM Research and a four star analyst according to Reuter’s StarMine, reports on the recent oil producing project in the Elkton formation.
History
“CEC North Star Energy Ltd. began its operations in 2012 in the Manning Area in the Peace River oil sands. An undeveloped extensive and contiguous land base surrounding the town of Manning has been acquired from various private leaseholders and from crown land sales totaling 46,720 or seventy-three sections. Octagon 88 Resources (OCTX.QB) is currently the largest publicly traded shareholder with a 33% ownership.”
Oil Production
“In October (2013) the operator drilled its first production well targeting the Elkton reservoir. Based on better reservoir properties than expected, the operator decided to extend the drilling by an additional 217 meters to 917 meters. The better reservoir properties make it to believe that the estimated oil volume in the reservoir is greater than originally forecasted. First commercial oil production is expected during November (2013).”
Valuation
Elkton Potential Project Valuation: In a recent industry transaction, the buyer paid $97,250 per flowing barrel and paid $29.02 for P2 reserves. Based on thirty party reserve report P2 reserves in CEC’s Elkton Formation could exceed 330 million barrels of oil based on a 31.4% recovery rate. By using only $25 for P2 reserves we calculated a project value of $825 million. A single leg horizontal well could produce 300 barrels per day, using the flowing barrel this matrix, a 30,000 barrel a day project could be valued at $3 billion dollars based on this latest transaction.
