Stocks nudge higher in choppy trading session
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — U.S. stocks ended a choppy trading session with modest gains on Monday, leaving the S&P 500 index (SNC:SPX) just below the all-time closing high of 1,771.95 set early last week. The index gained 6.29 points, or 0.4%, to change hands at 1,767.93, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI JIA) erased earlier weakness to climb 23.57 points, or 0.2%, to 15,639.12. The Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQ:COMP) added 14.55 points, or 0.4%, to 3,936.59.
