TransCanada Corp. TRP Company Overview
TransCanada Corp. operates as an energy infrastructure company in North America. It operates through three segments: Natural Gas Pipelines, Oil Pipelines and Energy. The Natural Gas Pipelines segment owns and operates energy infrastructure, including natural gas pipelines and regulated gas storage facilities. The Oil Pipelines segment operates keystone crude oil pipeline system, which includes 3,467 kilometers of wood river/patoka and cushing extension sections. The Energy segment engages in the acquisition, development, construction, ownership, and operation of electrical power generation plants; non-regulated natural gas storage; purchase and marketing of electricity; provision of electricity account services to energy and industrial customers in Alberta. The company's business roots back to March 21, 1951 when its subsidiary was established as TransCanada Pipe Lines Ltd. TransCanada was founded on February 25, 2003 and is headquartered in Calgary, Canada.
