Re: Agent 0001 #11276
There are plenty of traders who follow the adage "buy the mystery, sell the history" or "buy the rumor, sell the news." It's not that uncommon to see stocks fall, sometimes inexplicably, on positive earnings news. Markets are about perceptions. The pundits can always explain it with, "XYZ had a good report, but fell short of expectations."

In addition to those traders who routinely sell into news, there is the critical issue of expectations. What is "terrific" is entirely subjective. The civil-defendant short-and-distort bashers (incl those cozy with mms)  had their work cut out. Regardless of whatever positive results issued from SK, they were dead set on manipulating perceptions by denigrating the SK results as falling short of arbitrarily pegged expectations.

This created a very fertile field for a turbo-charged bear raid (which you alluded to this morning). In a bear raid, falling prices feed on falling prices hitting the stop losses. Induced by short attacks, some recent buyers of the run-up or some who finally had seen green will rush to protect profits as selling breeds more selling while basher-shorts provide poisoned atmospherics.
