OnTrac Partners With St. Vincent de Paul to Deliver Hope, Food for Million Can Crusade

CHANDLER, Ariz., Nov. 1, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- OnTrac is proud to support St. Vincent de Paul in its effort to help Arizona's hungry families this holiday season.

St. Vincent de Paul will team up with KNIX 102.5's morning show team, Ben and Matt, to host the Million Can Crusade.

The Crusade, which will run November 1 – 27, is an effort to collect one million cans of non-perishable food items for St. Vincent de Paul.

"Sometimes people are overwhelmed by the need in our community," Saint Vincent de Paul Executive Director Steve Zabilski said. "But every donation makes a difference. To a struggling family, an emergency food box can go a long way to stretch their household budget so that when all the bills are paid, they can still put food on the table."

OnTrac will be sponsoring 250 boxes across the state of Arizona. The boxes will be placed throughout 119 Safeway stores and Desert Schools Federal Credit Union locations throughout the Valley.

"We are truly grateful to be part of the Million Can Crusade for the third year in a row," OnTrac Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Laura Peterson said. "They are a dedicated organization and make a real difference in our community. We are happy to be able to help."

The Million Can Crusade Kick-Off event took place this morning, November 1, in Mesa, Arizona. There will be additional events across the valley all month.

In addition to OnTrac, Safeway and Desert Schools Federal Credit Union locations across the state are participating. Donations of canned foods can be dropped off at Safeway locations, while monetary donations can be made at both Safeway and Desert Schools.

The food donated will help fill the shelves of St. Vincent de Paul's network of over 80 parish-based food pantries in central and northern Arizona. Last year, food pantry volunteers delivered nearly 400,000 food boxes to hungry families.
