New York Law Journal Celebrates 125th Anniversary

NEW YORK, Oct. 30, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ALM's New York Law Journal, which has been the newspaper of record for the New York legal community since 1888, celebrated its 125 th anniversary of publication today with a special commemorative issue.
The issue features a walk through the Law Journal's transformation over the past century and honors those who helped shape it, a timeline of key developments in the legal profession since 1888, a report on the evolution of the state courts and the rise of women and minorities in the court system, an insider's view of the reconstruction of the Thurgood Marshall U.S. Courthouse, and experts' opinions on the business of law today.
The section also traces the history of the state's oldest law firms, provides snapshots of New York's 15 law schools, and acknowledges the faithful contributors to the newspaper's opinion pages over the years.
"For 125 years, we have been privileged to serve the most vital and dynamic legal community in the nation," said Kris Fischer, editor in chief of the New York Law Journal. "In addition to the commemorative issue, we'll also be hosting a special dinner on November 4 th , where we will celebrate the rich history of the newspaper and the readers it serves."
