Real Goods Solar Completes 2.2 MW Solar Farm in Vermont

LOUISVILLE, Colo., Oct. 30, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- RGS Energy, the commercial and utility division of Real Goods Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: RSOL ), and St. Albans Solar Partners, LLC, has completed a new 2.2 megawatt (MW) solar farm ahead of schedule. The energy produced by the PV system in Vermont is expected to generate approximately 3.1 million kilowatt hours (kWh) annually, enough energy to power more than 400 homes.

"The completion of our solar farm ahead of schedule is made possible by the professional and efficient work of Real Goods Solar," said Joe Larkin, project owner at St. Alban's Solar Partners. "This completed project represents a marquee solar farm in Vermont, which will add a substantial new source of clean and renewable energy to the state."

The fixed array ground mount solar system will deliver environmental benefits to the region, eliminating more than 123 million pounds of annual carbon dioxide emissions over 25 years or the equivalent to planting more than 1.4 million trees (per EPA-based data). It also helps Vermont reach its goal of 20% renewable energy by 2017.

"When we 'flip the switch' we will be delivering 100% clean renewable solar energy to the residents of Vermont," said Seamans. "Now home to one of Vermont's largest solar power systems, the City of Saint Albans and its residents should be proud to have such an important project nearby."

100% of the solar energy produced will be purchased through a feed-in tariff under the Standard Offer Program of Vermont's Sustainably Priced Energy Development (SPEED) Program. The program was created by legislation in 2005 to promote renewable energy development in the state in order to reach the state's renewable energy goals.
