Re: Pharaoh #10891

I am going to jump into the Big Board contest with my pick before equijohn changes his mind about alerting a new pick.  My MVP Big Board pick is Nokia (NOK).  The last trade was $2.82.  I am taking this for 2 reasons:

1.  The stock is experiencing a nearly $0.50 pullback from recent highs.  These recent highs were the result of investors being bullish on the stock due to the recent Apple v. Samsung patent ruling.  Nokia has a large number of patents and the thought was that the ruling would be favorable in protecting the intellectual property of Apple products, but with a spillover to the huge number of Nokia patents.  However, a financial analyst said this rise was unwarranted and to short the stock.  Well, folks listened.  I am taking advantage of these short positions driving the price down by buying the dip.  This recent dip should produce a bounce, which leads to my second reason for choosing Nokia (and really the reason why I think it should bounce).

2.  This week Nokia, along with Microsoft should make a few big announcements regarding Nokia's phones (which use Windows, hence the Nokia/Microsoft partnership) at the Nokia World Event 2012 (Sept. 5-6).  I believe investors will react positively regarding announcements surrounding the surprisingly popular Lumia phones.  I think you could see 15-20% short-term gains leading up to the announcements at the World Event.

I took a position in NOK on Thursday and plan to sell into any positive NOK news or consider a longer term hold if I see potential price appreciation that can be sustained.

Good luck with your trades this week and remember to submit your Big Board picks as well as your OTC picks for the respective contests!
