Microsoft, Amazon shares surge on earnings
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Shares of Microsoft Corp. and Amazon.com Inc. both surged in the extended session late Thursday after both companies reported better-than-expected results for the third quarter.
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) shares rallied 5.6% to $35.62 on heavy volume after the company posted fiscal first-quarter earnings of 62 cents a share on revenue of $18.53 billion, compared with the consensus estimate of 54 cents a share on $17.8 billion in revenue.
