Crime Scene Clean Up Company Announces Annual K9 G

AURORA, Ill., Oct. 21, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To recognize the dedication of law enforcement officials nationwide, crime scene clean up provider, Aftermath, announced today its annual K9 giveaway. Now through November 7, 2013, police officers can visit www.aftermath.com/k9drawing or www.facebook.com/AftermathCares to enter for a chance to win a $5,000 grant towards the purchase of a police dog. The drawing will be held November 8, 2013.

"As municipal budget cuts continue to impact police departments across the country, we understand that first responders need help to perform their duties. Previous winners of the annual K9 giveaway include the Lower Allen Township Police Department who acquired Rocco, a mix of German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois. The department saw a 100 percent increase in drug-related arrests between 2005 and 2008, which led the chief of police and public safety director for the department, Frank Williamson Jr., to recognize the importance of adding a K9 unit to the force.

"Rocco has helped our officers locate drugs, and he also dictates the mood for situations that have the potential to escalate," said Williamson. "His presence and barking can set the tone. When we hear Rocco, we know it's a serious situation."
