Syntel Chairman Bharat Desai to Speak at India--U.S. Corporate Conclave on October 19, 2013

TROY, Mich., Oct. 18, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Syntel, Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNT ), a global information technology services and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) firm, today announced that the Company's Chairman and Co-Founder, Bharat Desai, will speak at the IIT Bombay – Washington University Corporate Leaders Conclave taking place October 19–20, 2013 in St. Louis.

This two-day event is a follow up to a parallel event held in Mumbai, India in March. The IIT Bombay – Washington University Corporate Leaders Conclave brings together representatives from industry and academia to focus on strengthening the U.S.–India connection, creating innovation and educational opportunities, and developing solutions to global economic and humanitarian issues.

On October 19, Mr. Desai will participate with other business leaders in a panel discussion focused on entrepreneurship and innovation, which will be moderated by Washington University Executive Vice Chancellor Hank Webber.

"Business and academia both have important roles to play in creating new economic opportunities," said Desai. "We live in a globally connected world, and partnerships like the IIT Bombay – Washington University corporate alliance provide students with a solid foundation in the realities of a global business environment, giving them a competitive edge as they enter tomorrow's workplace."

"In addition, this alliance enables established entrepreneurs to connect, engage and nurture the next generation of business leaders," said Desai.

Syntel's support for the IIT Bombay – Washington University initiative is part of the Company's overall commitment to supporting socially-conscious educational initiatives, including its own corporate social responsibility vehicle, S'Prayas, as well as Enactus, a global non-profit that challenges college students to develop and execute socially responsible entrepreneurship in their communities.
