EcoGreenBulb, a Hi Score company, is our new line of next generation Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL). CFLs are designed to replace an incandescent lamp and can fit into most existing light fixtures.
Compared to general service incandescent lamps giving the same amount of visible light, CFLs use less power and have a longer rated life. CFLs use two-thirds less energy and last about 10 times longer than your standard incandescent bulb. However, traditional CFL’s contain a small amount of liquid mercury, about 4 milligrams to be exact. This has caused disposal problems as well as potential health problems.
Many of EcoGreenBulb’s new CFLs are designed using amalgam, an alloy of mercury combined with other metals in a solid form, making the usage of liquid mercury unnecessary. This process overcomes the negatives associated with the traditional CFL.
With the phase-out of the inefficient incandescent bulb beginning in 2012, CFL technology is one of the leading technologies that people are utilizing to reduce their lighting costs and help the environment. In fact, if every household in the U.S. replaced one (standard incandescent) light bulb with one of our EcoGreenBulb CFLs, it would prevent enough pollution to equal removing one million cars from the road.
