Catalina Post-Acute Care & Rehabilitation to Host

TUCSON, Ariz., Oct. 16, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tucson's venerable Catalina Care Center, situated in the historic Samos neighborhood since the 1960's, has undergone major renovations and upgrades to make it the premier short-term inpatient post-acute care provider in Southern Arizona. A by-invitation Open House has been scheduled for Thursday, October 17 to introduce the newly-remodeled skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility to Tucson's medical community.
Rechristened as Catalina Post-Acute Care & Rehabilitation, the care facility has not only undergone a multi-million dollar cosmetic overhaul, but has also expanded and enhanced its therapy gym and rehab programs, added in-wall oxygen and suction, and completed major electrical upgrades, in order to care for patients with more complex diagnoses. Along with both inpatient and outpatient physical and occupational therapy programs, Catalina Post-Acute specializes in hip and knee rehabilitation, wound care, and now respiratory and ventilator care.
"With the renovation we significantly expanded and enhanced our respiratory care and therapy programs, allowing us to serve patients with higher oxygen needs," said Rob Eagar, Executive Director of the 102-bed facility. "We also created more therapy and rehabilitation space to accommodate the growing demand from our hip and knee replacement and other orthopedic patients and their doctors," he added.
The renovation and program expansions serve a significant and growing community need. Mr. Eagar noted that, over the years, Catalina Post-Acute's local hospital partners have been entrusting increasingly complex patients and diagnoses to the outstanding skilled care team at Catalina. "We are constantly looking for new and better ways to serve our patients and our community, and this renovation advances our goal," he said.
