ESMG Also Signs Rising New Hip Hop Artist: Bungle Knot Dred
Primco Management Inc. Tion Phipps. The introductory single, “Break Necks,” is now charting on Media Base’s Urban Radio chart with 33 radio stations now spinning the record, and it continues to garner attention in the rhythmic format. Two major stations on the national platform were just added - SIRIUS / XM’s “The Heat” and “Hip Hop Nation,” as well as heavy hitter markets including Detroit, Jacksonville, Norfolk and Buffalo. Fan engagement has always been a key element for Tion, as evidenced by his expanding view count on YouTube (12,000,000+), and his electrifying live performances in front of large crowds at DigiTour on October 3 in Chicago and October 4 in Toronto. ESMG/Top Sail Productions will continue to fan the flames with imminent new tracks and videos. Tion’s latest video post on YouTube already boasts 700,000 views in just two weeks, and production discussions are taking place for two new videos. Tion’s addiction for singing started when he sang along to the classic pop tune “Rockin’ Robin” by the Jackson 5. “That’s when I first got a voice; my mom said, ‘Is that you singing or is that Michael?’ I said, ‘That’s me singing!’ From there, I wanted to be a singer,” says Tion. He was only nine years old at the time. Now all of his dreams are coming true.
Bungle Knot Dred. Today, ESMG proudly announced the signing of hip hop artist Bungle Knot Dred (“BKD”). Hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and currently living in Clearwater, Florida, his first single “Oh Yes, My Baby” will be released in November. This signing is part of a joint venture with Divine Records, headed by music veterans Gary Jenkins and Barry Adams. Bungle Knot Dred is managed by record executive and music promoter, Kevin Evans, a Grammy award winning producer and artist manager. Evans was the President of RCA Records Urban Division, as well as President of Urban Music at All American Music/Scotti Bros. Records. Evans stated, “I am very excited to have my artist BKD be a part of the new ESMG music company. I have had major success with members of this team in the past and I expect that success to continue.” BKD is enamored with and empowered by all aspects of the hip hop genre. His influences span a veritable who's who of hip hop stars from Eric B & Rakim, to Tupac to Biggie; Big Daddy Kane to MC Breed; and NWA to Spice 1. Stated BKD, "Hip hop is life itself to me; it allows me to express all my emotions constructively, and I don't know what I would do without that release. And of course, since we are from the same state, you know I was influenced by the whole Cash Money/Young Money clique, especially my man L'IL WAYNE."
