Recent reports indicated that from January to September, the airport served a remarkable 5,278,316 passengers, reflecting a modest increase of 0.8% from the previous year. Domestic travel saw a slight decline of 0.3%, tallying up 4,885,308 travelers, while international travel surged by an impressive 17%, bringing in 393,008 passengers.
September Traffic Statistics
In September alone, ONT recorded 599,086 passengers, marking a decrease of 1.1% from last year. This dip interrupted a remarkable streak of 54 months of consecutive passenger growth. Among these passengers, 554,651 were domestic, experiencing a decline of 3.6%. Conversely, international travelers drastically increased by 45.7%, totaling 44,435.

Despite the recent drop in passenger numbers, Ontario International maintains a strong performance, reporting that its current passenger volume is still 28% higher than pre-pandemic figures, making it the best performing amongst California's ten largest airports.

The airport’s top five airlines by passenger volume for September were:

CEO of the Ontario International Airport Authority, Atif Elkadi, reflected on the airport's achievement saying, "Fifty-four months of consecutive growth is something few airports can claim. Moreover, the airport’s cargo handling remains robust, with air cargo tonnage surpassing previous year figures by 1%. The increase in mail volume was especially notable, soaring by 38.8%. However, freight tonnage saw a decline of 3.9%.

From January to September, the airport recorded an 8.2% increase in air cargo tonnage compared to last year. The mail volume has demonstrated remarkable growth, reflecting a 210% increase, while freight has declined by 3.9%.
Elkadi acknowledged the airport's shipping partners in his statement, underlining how Ontario is recognized as a key destination for air cargo within Southern California.
