Mielle's $1 Million Initiative for Youth Mental Wellness

Mielle's $1 Million Initiative for Youth Mental Wellness

Mielle's Significant Investment in Teen Mental Wellness

Mielle Cares Awards MiSpace Grants to Community Centers Focused on Mental Wellness for Chicago Youth

Mielle Cares, established by the founders of Mielle Organics, Melvin and Monique Rodriguez, has dedicated a remarkable sum of $1 million across five nonprofit community centers. This substantial investment aims to foster transformative mental wellness programs for underserved teens and preteens in various communities, emphasizing culturally relevant, creative, and heartfelt solutions.

The MiSpace Grant is the largest investment ever made by Mielle Cares, reflecting its commitment to empowering the future generation of innovators by prioritizing their mental and emotional well-being. Each chosen community center will benefit from a funding range, ensuring they can introduce programs that include group therapy, mindfulness initiatives, narrative therapy, and creative arts healing. These programs are specifically designed for youth aged 11 to 18, addressing the many barriers they often face in accessing mental health support.

"Almost half of children and teens in Illinois are reporting heightened mental health challenges, which highlights the need for our support," stated Monique Rodriguez, Co-Founder of Mielle Cares and CEO of Mielle Organics. "At Mielle, we understand that success begins in the mind. This investment represents a decade of commitment to nurturing young people’s emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and resilience. It's more than just a grant; it’s a promise to foster real change.

Melvin Rodriguez, the Co-Founder of Mielle Cares and COO of Mielle Organics, shared, "Collaborating with trusted community organizations ensures we connect with youth effectively. These centers are already achieving great things. Our aim is to bolster their efforts and provide the necessary resources to assist young people in overcoming challenges, healing, and molding their futures. This essence is central to what MiSpace represents."

The selection of the five grant recipients was a result of a rigorous evaluation process earlier this year. The MiSpace Grant will empower each center to implement impactful programming within the year, enhancing the mental health framework within their neighborhoods. This endeavor is part of Mielle Cares' broader initiatives like the MiMental Mindset program, which has successfully reached out to hundreds of students since its inception and continues to provide wellness education and after-school activities.

Shonta Connolly, Executive Director of Mielle Cares, expressed her support, stating, "The community centers have been engaging in vital work to uplift and support young individuals within their communities. The MiSpace Grant allows us to magnify that impact, equipping these organizations with the resources and connections needed to broaden their mental wellness opportunities for underserved teens and preteens. Everyone deserves a chance to identify their challenges, heal, and reshape their futures."
