Metro Diner Expands with New Location in Columbia
The nationally recognized diner continues its growth in South Carolina with a new restaurant in the capital city.
Metro Diner, known for its timeless American fare served with a modern twist, has officially opened its doors in Columbia. This marks the diner's first location in this vibrant city. The diner is situated at 106 Percival Road in the Jackson Shopping Center, boasting a spacious 4,350-square-foot area that comfortably accommodates 114 guests indoors along with an additional 24 seating options on its lovely patio.
This new location is led by Managing Partner Marcy Miller, who has a rich history with Metro Diner. Marcy began her journey as a server in Pineville, North Carolina, and has grown tremendously within the company over the years.
"This has been a long-held dream of mine, and I am ecstatic to provide this community with a homey place—somewhere that feels like family where everyone can gather and enjoy hearty and satisfying meals," said Miller. "We are dedicated to serving robust diner delights and creating a friendly atmosphere that brings customers back time and time again."
Metro Diner is particularly well-known for its generous portions and an impressive all-day menu that features breakfast, lunch, and dinner favorites. The award-winning menu includes comfort food staples such as omelets, comprehensive breakfast platters, BBQ ribs, and specialty burgers crafted from 100% Angus beef.
Gaining national recognition, Metro Diner was showcased on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, where Guy Fieri praised the highly sought-after Iron City Meatloaf, which is griddle-seared to retain its juicy flavors and served with rich brown gravy, creamy mashed potatoes, and French-style steamed green beans.
Moreover, diners can't miss the famous Fried Chicken & Waffle, consisting of a half fried chicken served atop a Belgian waffle accompanied by a delectable strawberry butter and the signature sweet-and-spicy sauce that fans adore.
For those craving something sweet, Marcy suggests indulging in the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes. "Just one bite will have you hooked! They are fluffy, homemade pancakes that feature a delightful cinnamon swirl, topped with our scratch-made cinnamon butter, rich cream cheese icing, and candied pecans. It is simply irresistible," she commented.
Miller, originally from Lisbon, Ohio, has amassed significant experience over her six-year history with the brand, transitioning from a server role to management, and even working as a floating manager across various locations. Through this journey, she gained valuable insights into the inner workings of the Metro Diner brand.
"My path has been immensely rewarding, and it brings me great pride to have my name associated with my very own Metro Diner," Miller stated. "I have learned so much from our guests and team members, and I am thrilled to channel that enthusiasm into our Columbia establishment."
Conveniently located off I-77, the new Metro Diner is near key landmarks such as Fort Jackson, the University of South Carolina, Allen University, and Benedict College, plus it is right across from Walmart and Sam's Club. The restaurant operates daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with plans to extend hours to 8 p.m. upon launching dinner service shortly.
