MetalSource Mining Partners with Boart Longyear for Drilling
MetalSource Mining Corp (CSE: MSM) is thrilled to announce a new drilling contract with the renowned drilling company, Boart Longyear. This partnership signifies an important step for MetalSource as it embarks on its inaugural drill program at the company’s flagship Silver Hill and Byrd Pilot properties.
Details of the Drilling Agreement
Under the newly signed agreement, Boart Longyear will initiate operations by conducting a minimum of 2,000 metres of core drilling. This drilling will focus on high-priority target zones, identified through comprehensive geological mapping, sampling, and geophysical as well as historic data analyses. The mobilization of the drilling crew is expected to occur in early December, setting the stage for significant advancements in exploration.
CEO Insights on the Collaboration
Joe Cullen, the CEO of MetalSource Mining, expressed enthusiasm about this new venture. He noted, “Securing Boart Longyear is an important milestone for our drill program. Their proven experience enhances the project's credibility, and we are eager to commence testing our priority targets. We aim to keep our shareholders updated as the drilling process begins.”
Exploring the Silver Hill Project
The Silver Hill Project, located within the Carolina Terrane, boasts an impressive geological framework, primarily composed of Neoproterozoic and Cambrian age rocks. Covering an area of 1,128 acres in Davidson County, this project is remarkable for being the site of the first significant silver discovery in the United States. Historic drilling data reveals that mineralization extends to depths of 550 meters from the surface, presenting an exciting landscape for exploration.
Recent surface sampling has yielded promising results, including an assay from sample SH25-003 that yielded 444 grams per tonne of silver, alongside notable concentrations of gold, lead, and zinc. The extensive historic dataset increases confidence in the potential for significant discoveries.
Insights into the Byrd-Pilot Mountain Project
The Byrd-Pilot Mountain Project is also positioned in central North Carolina within the Carolina Terrane. Initial assessments by the US Geological Survey in the 1980s initially flagged this area as potentially hosting a porphyry gold-copper system. Following this initial interest, subsequent exploration uncovered broad gold mineralization from surface to shallow depths, correlating with strong self-potential anomalies.
Geological Potential and Future Work
The geology of the area showcases significant quartz-sericite-pyrite alteration and high-sulfidation features indicative of the possibility of hosting a large epithermal or porphyry-related gold system. Modelled geology suggests an east-west trend to the known mineralization, which remains open in various directions. Importantly, no drilling has been conducted on the Meridian discovery zone since the 1980s, indicating a promising opportunity for resource expansion under this contract.
Expert Oversight in Exploration
All scientific and technical information in this announcement has been meticulously reviewed under the supervision of Rory Kutluoglu, P.Geo., a Qualified Person as outlined by National Instrument 43-101, ensuring the highest industry standards in exploration practices.
