MD Logistics Expands Warehouse Facilities for Life Sciences

MD Logistics Expands Warehouse Facilities for Life Sciences

MD Logistics Expands Life Sciences Warehouse Facilities

Life sciences and pharmaceutical companies are growing fast, and with that growth comes a clear need: reliable, compliant space to store and handle sensitive products. MD Logistics, a long-standing third-party logistics provider, is stepping up by converting a large portion of its largest in-network site into a cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) compliant warehouse.

Built for Growth

John Sell, President and CEO of MD Logistics, calls the move a meaningful expansion. "The need for cGMP compliant, temperature-controlled facilities has never been greater in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industry. We are proud to announce that we will be adding 200,000 square feet of state-of-the-art warehouse space through this upgrade. Additionally, a 40,000 square foot cooler maintaining a temperature range of 2-8°C will be installed to store our clients' temperature-sensitive products effectively."

The scale matters. The added 200,000 square feet increases capacity for compliant storage and handling, while the dedicated 40,000 square foot cooler at 2–8°C supports products that must stay within a strict temperature band from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. It’s a practical response to rising demand, not just an investment in square footage.

Construction and Timing

Work on the pharmaceutical facility upgrade began earlier this year. MD Logistics expects to complete the conversion by the end of the year, with product intake starting soon after. The goal is straightforward: bring additional capacity online quickly, so clients don’t have to wait for the space and controls their products require.

Answering Client Demand

Chad Hodges, Vice President of Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical Operations, notes that requests have been steady and specific. "We have been receiving requests from both new and existing clients for some time now. This expansion provides a unique opportunity to enhance our operations, ensuring that we can meet the growing demands of our clients while also creating new growth opportunities for the MD Logistics team."

Added capacity is only useful if it’s aligned to real needs. By focusing on cGMP environments and temperature-controlled space, the company is aiming where the pressure is highest—products that must be handled with care, traceability, and consistency.

Patient-Focused, Tailored Solutions

Since 1996, MD Logistics has built its approach around patient-focused logistics. That means designing the process around the product’s requirements—especially for temperature-sensitive goods—so the final recipient gets what they need, when they need it, in the right condition. The team emphasizes tailored solutions that fit a client’s specific supply chain, rather than one-size-fits-all services.

This facility upgrade extends that approach. More space, more temperature-controlled capacity, and more cGMP-ready infrastructure give clients room to grow while holding the line on quality and compliance.

About MD Logistics

MD Logistics is a niche third-party logistics (3PL) company that specializes in temperature-controlled and customized supply chain solutions. Using proven methods, the team tackles client-specific challenges and delivers turnkey services built around each product’s requirements. Core focus areas include Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical markets, along with Cold Chain Transportation Services. Since its acquisition by Nippon Express in 2020, MD Logistics has continued to strengthen its role as a provider of essential logistics services for temperature-sensitive, compliant operations.
