Systems Spray-Cooled Welcomes New Investor for Global Expansion

Systems Spray-Cooled Expands With New Investment
We are thrilled to share that The Systems Group has partnered with a new investor in the Systems Spray-Cooled (SSC) business unit. David Brogdon, a seasoned entrepreneur and one of the original founders of Bad Boy Mowers, has acquired a majority stake in Systems Spray-Cooled. The current owners, Lee and Kyle Morgan, are pleased to retain a 35% ownership stake, ensuring that SSC continues to operate under The Systems Group’s umbrella. In addition to David's leadership, Scott Ferguson, now serving as VP & GM of SSC, has also become an owner.
A Vision for Global Growth
This strategic investment from David and his partners is designed to enhance global growth initiatives while still supporting our domestic customer base. Historically, SSC has focused mainly on the United States. However, as the steel industry pivots from basic oxygen furnaces (BOFs) to electric arc furnaces (EAFs), there is a growing global recognition of the benefits of Spray-Cooled™ technology over traditional, riskier pressurized cooling methods. Projects are already in motion across various international locations, underscoring the company’s commitment to innovation.
Transforming Safety in Steel Manufacturing
The Spray-Cooled™ technology was developed in response to the unsafe conditions posed by pressurized cooling systems used in EAFs. Traditional methods can lead to severe mishaps due to excessive water exposure. In contrast, Spray-Cooled™ technology regulates water to minimize risks, allowing only a controlled trickle under abnormal circumstances. This innovative approach has demonstrated significantly better operational uptime than competing systems, resulting in substantial cost savings for steel mills worldwide.
Innovative Solutions for a Greener Future
Another advantage of Spray-Cooled™ technology lies in its ability to maintain higher temperatures within the furnace, making it an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly choice. This responsiveness supports our mission of 'Making Meltshops Safer' as we strive to implement sustainable practices within the steel industry. As the company continues to grapple with the global demand for safer operations, we look forward to the impactful changes this investment will bring.
