Power Metallic Expands Metallurgical Testing for Lion Deposit

Power Metallic Advances Metallurgical Testing on Lion Deposit
Power Metallic Mines Inc. (TSXV: PNPN) is excited to share its latest developments regarding metallurgical studies currently underway at the Lion deposit. These studies are vital for the mining sector, assisting in the assessment and potential success of mining projects without immediate plans to publish a NI 43-101 resource report.
Importance of Metallurgical Testing
Metallurgical testing plays a crucial role in derisking mining projects by providing essential data about resource potential. According to Power Metallic CEO Terry Lynch, the results from these studies will allow independent analysts to gauge the economic viability of the Nisk project effectively. By following established paths similar to successful projects like Filo and Great Bear, Power Metallic aims to enhance its standing in the industry.
Engagement with SGS Canada Inc.
The company selected SGS Canada Inc. after a competitive bidding process for their vast experience in flotation metallurgical testing. The studies will be divided into sampling, flotation studies, and environmental testing, carried out in their Quebec City and Lakefield facilities.
Positive Early Findings from Sample Analysis
Initial findings have confirmed that the copper mineralization at the Lion deposit consists primarily of coarse-grained chalcopyrite and cubanite, minerals known to respond positively to conventional sulfide concentration methods. This insight raises expectations for good recovery rates of copper sulfides, as initial tests will also explore additional metals such as PGEs, gold, silver, and nickel.
Understanding the Mineralization Zones
The Lion deposit exhibits two distinct mineralization zones categorized as the High-Grade (HG) and the Lower Grade (LG) Hanging-wall Zone. The HG zone contains the majority of the valuable metal, consisting primarily of semi-massive to massive copper sulfide mineralization. Power Metallic has been diligent in collecting samples from both zones to represent mineralization comprehensively.
From the HG, 103 samples across 15 drill holes and from the LG, 99 samples from 10 drill holes have been selected, ensuring a diverse representation of the ore body. Each of these core reject samples amounted to about 300 kg, all of which were sent to SGS for further analysis.
Comprehensive Approach to Testing
The plan for the sample analysis involves creating a 75 kg composite for each mineralization zone, with specific care taken to represent the mineralized intervals accurately. Both the HG and LG materials will then be homogenized to ensure consistency in further testing.
From this composite, 25 kg will be extracted, resulting in three unique 50 kg composites to assess recovery variability of crucial metals including copper, palladium, platinum, gold, silver, and nickel.
Future Testing and Expectations
The metallurgical tests are projected to take around 14 weeks, with timely updates on results. However, the complete reporting is expected not before early 2026. As the company moves forward, insights gained will play a significant role in outlining economic strategies and investment returns.
