I am going to look over it this weekend. I was thinking before that they would do this with the prurisol patent because they may have discovered it might wwork in other indications but they hadn't yet developed a stable method of sythesizing the compound so they began with what they knew already.

Its likely and I haven't read it that this is similiar to the case here they are adding on other information as they learn more about it.
