Mid August is the deadest part of the summer. I used to work in the hedge fund industry in NYC. Most of the industry is out at the Hamptons, away on vacation, or working very limited hours for most of the summer. The worst part is right around labor day. I used to rent a beach house with some friends and cut out on Thursday's for a 3 day weekend during the summer, and be gone the entire week ahead of Labor Day.
