When ZMP finishes their evaluation and begins to announce projects for collaboration with GeckoSystems I believe Big Money will start to flow.
Right now there is a lot of money sitting on the sidelines waiting for that third party confirmation.
From the last PR:
"ZMP is now testing the BaseBot and becoming familiar with navigation within an Artificial Intelligence (AI) environment. ZMP is a world leader in embedded robotics systems. GeckoSystems believes that the addition of an AI layer to their robotic systems will open many new markets for ZMP's robot technologies."
I had to process that statement a bit. Most people probably don't understand how important those two sentences are. IMO - they're the most important part of the PR because it tells you what is happening with ZMP.
Apparently the ZMP evaluation is a little more complex than what I expected. I was thinking ZMP would get it, run it, and say "Yeah that's cool" (in Japanese of course).
I didn't realize how much robotics research is just done on machines with NO artificial intelligence component at all. This is why the university wheelchair navigation systems use expensive sensors, lines on the floor, or mapped environment. They don't have the ability to apply artificial intelligence to navigation.
SafePath is artificial intelligence navigation software. It can be used with any appropriate suite of sensors. The depth camera is the most cost effective sensor available and most wheelchair bound people have trouble navigating indoor spaces so SafePath with depth camera sensors is the most cost effective solution for wheelchairs and the CareBot. If someone had to have a SafePath enabled outdoor vehicle they would not use depth cameras. They would use lidar, sonar or other sensors that would give actionable data in an outdoor environment.
SafePath uses sensor fusion in multiple layers. First, the sensors are used for simple range finding. This is how other navigation systems use sensors, no AI is used. Second, the data is processed by GeckoNav which identifies relevant data patterns and defines them as obstacles - obstacles which can be avoided. The third layer is what GeckoSystems calls "Auto Pilot Seek". The end point is defined within the AI layer and SafePath seeks its original objective while processing the avoidance behaviors.
So ZMP has never worked with AI navigation before. I'm sure they are going to have to study it for a while and then understand how it can be incorporated into their current projects before we hear a collaboration formally announced.
When that happens - Big Money will start to open their wallet IMO.
It takes a bit of digging and research to understand this technology. I think that's why retail doesn't get it and that explains the low volume and the stock price.
