Content delivery market ‘to grow 40%’

The content delivery network (CDN) market will grow by more than 40% between now and 2016, with the increased video data streaming a key driver of growth, new research says.
Analyst TechNavio says it expects the market to grow by a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 40.61% over the period 2012-2016.
The report, covering the main global markets of the Americas, EMEA and APAC, says that, even though the global video CDN market has witnessed the development of content delivery clouds, “the high cost of video CDNs could pose a challenge to the growth of this market”.
The report says the key vendors dominating the market space are Akamai Technologies, CDNetworks, Level 3 Communications and Limelight Networks.
Other vendors mentioned in the report are Edgecast Networks Inc, Mirror Image Internet Inc, Tata Communications Ltd and Internap Network Services Corp.
