I believe the company would be allowed by fda to extrapolate safe starting dose based on mg/kg formula knowledge gained from preclinical and phI adult research results. Would need to doublecheck that hypothesis at fda clinical guidelines for pediatrics page though - which I will try to do later to confirm accuracy of my thoughts.
