An Form 8-K is a very broad form used to notify investors of any material event that is important to shareholders or the United States Securities and Exchange Commission .
A press release is not a material event. It may talk about a material event but in that case would be usually after an 8-k is filed. But a Press release is not a material event in itself so you would never 8-k a press release.
