Would love to have a talk with Dr M regarding how he sees a drug/ester/etc. for one type of drug (as in the HIV drug from which he derived Prurisol) and recognizes the implications it may have for a totally separate line of diseases/conditions. Did he see this HIV drug and immediately see it's potential for autoimmune problems, was he working on it for some reason and thru testing realized it could be translated to other uses, did he just stumble on it as what happened with penicillin, and how does he start changing the original drug to get rid of the dangerous/problematic side effects and incorporate new positive features into it? Do these changes come from just trial and error or some other more refined system? I think such a book would make a wonderful read.
This doesn't seem like it is just based on knowledge, there has to be a great vision and creativeness, just as with art, to see what most cannot even envision.
