In 1999, a new remote operated machine called the Aquatic Timber Harvester (ATH) was introduced. The ATH featured a 60 foot Robotic Manipulator and Tool designed for cutting large-diameter timber standing in lakes and reservoirs. The ATH was proven successful in commercial operations a Tucurui Reservoir in the Para State of Brazil, and is hailed as a major technological innovation.
