They won't be perfing the casing if its a "open hole " completion. they cement the casing at the top of the formation of interest, then continue drilling with a tool. once that is complete they will use a little acid or frac. I like the "gas gun " frac myself as it worked on the three wells we completed open hole, the charge goes out latterly  instead of down the formation.Setting casing is a good sign that there is something of interest down there.
