DELTA AIRLINES has notified the McAllen International Airport that it will cease operations on May 1st. In speaking with the Delta representatives, the load factor in this market has been approximately 60%. A load factor of 75% is necessary for the route to be profitable.

Delta has implemented a passenger protection agreement with United/Continental and American Airlines. This ensures that any flights which have been booked through Delta for May 1st or beyond will be re-booked on another airline minimizing any disruption of services for passengers.
